Formed in 1994, by D. Brian Blackwell, Quality Investigations, Ltd.
became Brian Blackwell QI Services, Inc. in 1996 relocating to
Las Vegas, Nevada then Aurora, Colorado in 2005.

Brian Blackwell was president and CEO of CFS Financial Services, Inc.
until an incident occurred that changed the course of his life.

After surviving a random murder attempt (gang membership initiation)
by four teenaged (15-17-years-old) newly recruited gang members in
my Tacoma, Washington middle class neighborhood on the night of
June 25, 1993, I decided to devote my life to helping people protect themselves against criminals. --D. Brian Blackwell

The incident occurred at 10: 15 P.M. in the parking lot of the office
building where my office was. I parked my car, stepped out and heard people running towards me. I knew they were too close for me to get
back in my car and take off. I knew my only chance of surviving was to confront the situation and fight back. As I always do, I observed and checked out my surroundings before I got out of my car but didn't see
them because they were hiding in the bushes.

I knew the only way I would survive would be if I disarmed and
secured the handgun (Colt .45 Cal.). I grabbed the barrel of the gun, pushed it away from me and disarmed the gun by jamming my left
index and middle fingers behind the trigger preventing the gun from
being able to fire and wrestled it out of the shooter's hands.

Fortunately, the others stood-by doing nothing as I was taking control
of the weapon. Once I secured the weapon, they ran away. The only injuries I received from the incident were cuts up and down the outer
sides of my index and middle fingers when jamming them behind the
trigger of the gun. --D. Brian Blackwell

Background:

1996 to Present - licensed private investigator; guard force protection

1992 to 1995 - founder and CEO of CFS Financial Services, Inc. of
Tacoma and Seattle, Washington. Served as a training petty officer in
the U.S. Navy Seabee Reserve.

1986 to 1991 - U.S. Army; honorably discharged; achieved the rank of sergeant after only 2 years of service. Served in the Persian Gulf War earning two commendations; served three tours (3 years) in Korea and
two years at Fort Lewis, Washington.

1981 to 1986 - Radio broadcaster, bassist for The Blades, licensed P.I.

Educational background: accounting, criminal justice, political science
and history.
